What puberty did to me! Think this post was supposed to be up like a year ago but I procrastinated forever and here it is! Just documenting on how much I’ve changed over the past 10 years since I was 13. HAHA I must say… it was quite a big transformation. Now when I look back at these photos, I’ll cringe so badly haha but am eternally thankful for whatever change has happened to me. You guys really have to see for yourself.
I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START!! Okay, 10 years ago there wasn’t anything called the digital camera. Or maybe there was but I was too poor to have my own so the only thing we used to keep track of memories was NEOPRINTS!! I remember they were in every single shopping mall but I don’t think they even exist now anymore. So sad! It was quite costly to take those pictures but it was the in-thing and it was fun to decorate our own photos!
Erm ya, so when I was 13 in secondary one, I looked like this….
I think this was really one of the ugliest photos I have of myself. Crayon Shinchan eyebrows + SUPER TANNED SKIN + Granny tied back hair = Keline. This was how I looked like in secondary school. No wonder nobody from secondary school hardly ever recognise me on the streets now.
I LOOKED LIKE AN APE OR LIKE I’M FROM A TRIBE. OMG WAS I A MAN?! EEKS!!
Oh yes the person on the extreme right is me. Yep, with zao geng white bra. OH GOD WHY. You can never spot any white bras in my wardrobe now btw hahah.
Faces of most of my best friends then have been censored. Sekali they “jia bu chu qu ε«δΈεΊε»” then blame me for putting their photos here haha.
I was wearing this pair of shoes from Trendy Zone thinking they look super chio although they were size 7!! My feet size is only 34 LOL. Also, please look at that white patch on my face!!! Think it was some fungus growth haha.
When I was 14, my hairdresser decided to give me bangs to hide those hideous eyebrows. But I think ‘cos I had centre parting for a longggg time, my bangs would always split in the middle. #okfml
Please do not blame me for the twitxz that I was.. I was after all, a neighborhood school kid haha. It was cool back then okiexzx!!
I remember I loved this Roxy t-shirt my brother got for me from Bali because it was expensive ($50-$80) and would always wear this out! Then it was also the in-thing to wear hair bands around the neck HAHA so I wore two, twice the in-ness.
If you were wondering why I didn’t showed my teeth when I smiled in the photos, that was because I had really ugly teeth and hated my smile.
Then came braces… THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME. But I still looked like shit back then AHAHA.
When I was 15, I got together with my then-boyfriend whom I had a crazy crush on for 2 years. Well, we were together for about 4 years, all the way till JC ended. LOL don’t remind me.
CRAP AND I WONDER WHY HE EVEN WANTED ME TO BE HIS GIRLFRIEND BACK THEN. Speaking of which, he wrote me a letter and said he was ashamed of being together with me. HAHAH YOU MUST BE REGRETTING NOW RIGHT.
In secondary one and two, my best friends were Audrey and Tina. We would often hang out late at Drey’s place and start getting emo about life.
What in the world was I wearing. Back then, there was no Forever21, there was only This Fashion HAHAH.
In secondary three and four, I found a group of friends called, forever. :’) Our clique’s called MAKQ – Min, Andee, Kel and Qian. This picture is missing Qian. If you’re reading this, I lost neoprints of all four of us together dear!!
Love you guys forever!
After secondary school, I attended 3 months of school in Millenia Institute. Back in those days we had something called “first 3 months” where we could attend junior college or centralised institution with our Prelims results. So before I got my O level results, I was in MI for 3 months. I don’t have any pictures of me back then.
Okay then I attended 2 years of Junior College,
I STILL HAD BRACES. I was supposed to remove my braces in sec 4 but skipped many appointments due to O levels. Same thing happened because of A levels. Eventually, I had my braces removed only when A levels was nearing.
Oh and yes I was in cheerleading way before it was cool. π I used to train with Team Spectrum from Hall 13 wayyyy back. I think Cheerleading was one of the best times I had in JC. I loved Wednesdays although it meant gruelling long hours of physical training + mental torture. I remember our coach would scream at me and I would start crying hahaha.
I LOOK LIKE A MAID ENJOYING HER OFF DAY ON A SUNDAY HAHAHAHA.
Vietnamese bride photo. I want to kill myself now.
Spot the loser me HAHA.
This was after A levels I think. OH MY BRACES WERE GONE AND I WAS TRYING TO SMILE PROPERLY. I don’t have many pictures of me in JC, most of them are with my Bs. Think I’ll have to ask them to dig for those unglam pictures of us.
I turned 18 in year 2008. π My cheerleading buddies made threw me a birthday celebration and cooked soba.
This was taken in Atiqah’s house haha.
One day before I received my A level results, my best friend, S, got me to cut my hair short.
I HAD ABS!!!!
When I was 19, I became obsessed with clubbing.. omg. I would club almost every single day from Wednesday – Saturday. Sunday and Monday were my rest days. Most of my time was spent in the clubs.
Discovered my blogshop modelling talent when I was 20. HAHA NO LA.
Then I had bangs..
Still clubbing hahaha.
Moved into hall in Year 2 of university!
Atiqah and me would always do stupid things in our room.
I rmb I yearned to go home every single day.Β
WELCOME TO OUR ROOM. When I say that I’m messy, I really mean it.
When I grew closer to Lisa.
Spent many nights at Clarke Quay bridge and Zouk bridge lol.
At 21, I went to USA for 2 months.
At Miami beach. Had the best best best time of my life in the US.
Returned from the US. I think US made me chio-er haha.
My best friend whom I haven’t spoken to in 2 years… :'(
Think I looked quite badass when I first returned hahah.
Then I started blogshop modelling and then this blog hehe. That’s about it!!
Do you think I’ve changed much over the past 10 years? I think I did!! haha. I still look like me, but maybe my facial features are a little bit more defined now. Oh ya and I became fairer. I used to look like an Indian or Malay. Now people think I’m Indonesian or Thai haha. Many of my primary school friends who met me would always say, “eh you became fairer!!!” I’m still tanned now la if you have seen me in real life. I don’t know why pictures make me look fair, I NEVER PHOTOSHOP HOR.
Before I go, when I had centre parting 10 years ago,
And when I have centre parting now (pic taken 2 days ago). HAHAHAH GOT DIFFERENCE? I think braces really helped me a lot, if not I wouldn’t be smiling in any of my photos now! I did my braces at National Dental Centre, my sister too. π We both have a nice set of teeth thanks to NDC. My teeth have shifted quite a bit though ‘cos I didn’t wear my braces religiously. Invisalign sponsor anyone?? haha.
Like how the saying goes, δΈδΈζ²‘ζδΈε₯³δΊΊοΌεͺζζε₯³δΊΊοΌIt means there no ugly women in the world, only lazy women. It’s really true. I used to think that I would be ugly forever (although at that point of time I didn’t think I was ugly la but I never saw myself as pretty) but now.. I’m not exactly the most pretty girl ever la but at least I get paid for when people want to use my face (e.g. events, prints ads, productions and blogshop modelling). Back to the saying, I realised that I could be pretty if I paid a bit more attention to my dressing, my hair and my face. Trimming my eyebrows is a MUST and I use makeup to accentuate my facial features. You don’t need to have a lot of money to look good, you just need to know HOW to make yourself look good with whatever you have now.

October 10, 2013 at 11:56 pmHello Rusty!!! All thanks to the power of make-up!! Everyone really needs to learn some makeup skills to enhance their looks π
October 18, 2013 at 12:08 amHi, thank you so much. This post give me the confidence that one day I can be beautiful as well. My teeth doesn’t look nice too and I’m quite short in height. I had a boyfriend of 7 years when I was 13 but he left me when I was 20. The reason is he cheat on me with another girl and said she is taller and prettier than me. I lose all my confidence but after looking through your post, you gave me the strength to stand up again. Thank you so much π
January 24, 2014 at 4:55 pmHi Chloe, you’re welcome. I’ve been through that before and it was really hurtful. I am so glad this post helped you because I never want anybody to go through that kind of hurt I went through as well. I had a boyfriend of 4 years since 14 years old and he cheated on me till I was 18, non-stop. He even wrote me a letter and told me he was ashamed of being together with me because of my looks. Look who has the last laugh now. Don’t let people’s comments influence you negatively, let those words be a form of motivation for you, your future and your soulmate. Let your beauty, both inner and outer, be genuinely appreciated by somebody who is worth your love. :’) Love, Keline.
January 27, 2014 at 12:06 amHow did you get so fair? You look gorgeous! Did you use any beauty products or anything? Any tips? Please!
January 31, 2014 at 4:48 pmHi dear! I’m not very fair actually, I’m less dark as compared to last time but I’m still quite tanned. Just that the camera doesn’t always capture my true skin colour. I’m still quite tanned!
Honestly, I didn’t use any whitening product on my skin throughout the past 10 years and being tanned never really bothered me although I think clothes will look better on me if I were fairer. The colour just slowly faded away.
Probably also because I stayed away from the sun. I think that helps a lot! Ever since I graduated from secondary school, I stopped going under the sun other than PE lessons and occasional bikini sessions.
Currently, I make it a MUST to have sunblock on my skin everyday. Even if I will be under the sun during the short 15mins walk from my walk place to the nearest hawker centre during lunch.
Sunblock for face I use:
1. Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence ()
2. Biore Aqua Rich Whitening (comes in white tube)
3. Kose Sun Protect Gel SPF 50
4. Chanel Matt Lumiere power SPF 10
Sunblock for Body I use:
1. NIVEA UV whitening Serum SPF 25
Whenever I go for picnics or when I go overseas, I ALWAYS buy the NEUTROGENA ULTRA SHEER Sunblock Spray, it costs less than $20 at Watsons.
Hope this helps!:)

July 29, 2014 at 12:00 amHow did you get rid of that white spots on your face? It’s bothering me a whole lot for years. π
July 30, 2014 at 11:04 amHi dear,
The white spots went away gradually with time, sometimes it took several months to a year. They go away, and then come back again. I went to se a doctor and he told me to shower as soon as I come back. This is because bacteria in your sweat will harm your skin so it’s best to shower whenever you return home from outside. Other than that, he also prescribed me an antiseptic medicine which helps in fungus growth. I also use that for pimples sometimes hahaha! It’s quite good, and only costs $8 at the clinic near my house. I also have white spots on my back, imagine my entire whole back with white spots! Initially it didn’t affect me that much but when I wore tank tops out, my friends would point them out to me. Now the white spots are ALMOST gone, I still have a small patch on my back, the size of a 20 cents coin.
Fungus growth doesn’t take a few days or a few months to go away. For me, it has been with me for 10 years but I’m gladly they are finally getting out of my life!!!
You can see a doctor if it gets bad. I saw a normal GP.
Hope this helps!

Does all pretty girls go for looks? Hopefully not… but I’m glad that you’re happy for who you are.
October 28, 2014 at 11:15 pmOh my god I assure you that he must be regretting right now!! You are turning into a very fine young lady and he just scrubbed his chance away to be with you. I love how super positive you are. The life lessons you gave at the end of the post were really inspiring and I couldn’t help but loving and adore you more. Thanks for the kind words and most importantly, thank you for the numbers of photos! I thought you would only show us a photo. Turned out to be so many of them! I’m so proud that you never felt down and low to share those pictures ^.^
January 18, 2016 at 3:38 pmp/s : it’s too cute of you to always say ‘la’. In the previous post, I stumbled upon ‘sekali’ and was shocked because I thought you just spoke in bahasa. Shrugged it away, but then I found the ‘la’s, and now was super positive that you indeed had included bahasa into your post. Although it might seem so small of a matter to you, it does gave me a friendly gesture. You totally are one of my inspirational idol :*
Heya Syazwani, I’m glad this post helped in inspiring you. I’m from Singapore so our language, Singlish, compromises of a mixture of English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil languages. We mix everything together so you’ll see some malay wordings in my writing sometimes! π xoxo, Kel.

January 25, 2016 at 2:19 amFor me they are really stuffy and thick, and it really bothers me,but the thing is that i can’t have bangs :/
Anyways thank you for raising my self-esteem <3 :3
Hey! I started trimming my brows maybe at around 15. But took it seriously only after 19. Cheers to all the beautiful ladies in the world. xx, kel.
